Danbury has one of the most diverse immigrant communities in Connecticut — families from Ecuador, Brazil, Haiti, India, and elsewhere have made this city their home over the past few generations. Many of those families rely on Husky Health for their medical coverage, and finding a psychiatrist who actually accepts it — and who understands that background — is a real challenge. Elite Health LLC is in-network with Husky Health, including Husky D, and is currently accepting new patients from the Danbury area. Sindhia Shyras, APRN, a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with nine years of experience, conducts all appointments via telehealth. She offers care in English, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu — so language doesn't have to be one more barrier to getting help.
No referral needed. Most Husky Health members pay $0 or a minimal copay. And you don't have to drive to New Britain — telehealth means you connect from wherever you are in Connecticut.
Husky D — Connecticut's Medicaid plan for low-income adults without dependent children — is accepted here. That's worth saying plainly, because a lot of practices have closed their panels to Medicaid or quietly stopped accepting new Husky D members. Sindhia built Elite Health LLC with the intention of staying accessible. If you've been told you'd need to wait months somewhere else, or that a practice "isn't sure" about your plan, give us a call. We'll confirm your coverage and get you scheduled.
Sindhia treats depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, panic disorder, insomnia, and mood disorders. Your first visit is a full psychiatric evaluation — she goes through your history in detail, asks about what's been going on and for how long, and builds a care plan from there. Follow-up medication management appointments are scheduled from the start. If prior authorization is needed for any medication, the practice handles that submission so you don't have to navigate that on your own.
Under Connecticut's mental health parity law, Husky Health covers mental health services — including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and telehealth visits — at the same level as physical health care. So you're not paying a premium for psychiatric care just because of your insurance. Your Husky A, B, C, or D plan covers it, and most members pay nothing or close to nothing per visit.
